
At last night's premiere of The Great Debaters, Oprah Winfrey said she had "no regrets" about opening her Leadership Academy for Girls school in South Africa. In response to questions about how she handled the sex scandal that rocked the school earlier this fall, Winfrey told People magazine, "From the very first half hour, after I was able to pull myself together, I knew that this too shall pass. Just work on it, focus on the girls, focus on the girls, focus on the girls. And the girls are now fine." We love Oprah. However, we would like to hear why she spent $40 million on the school in South Africa rather than one here in the U.S. Though it's her money, we ask mostly out of pure curiosity after hearing the question raised on a recent television Q&A related to her appearance last weekend in support of presidential candidate Barak Obama.
