Once again Simon has strapped himself to Paula’s chair. Once again the group song ensues.

~sigh~

I’ve been reading a lot of press on Tuesday’s show, and it’s pretty clear that no one liked the second helping of the Beatles that the Idols served up. To be blunt, it was undercooked. In defense of Idol though, I’ve been told that there was a mentor issue, and the producers had their hands forced a bit. I think that something fell through, or went wrong, so they had to do another week of Beatles…this is a rumor though, and I don’t have a shred of evidence. I hope that my love for Idol and the my honest hope for the success of the Idols will be enough to help me, help you, help me, get over it and move on.

A point of humor:

A person named ‘Spring’ posted a comment (thank you Spring and everyone else who gives me feedback by the way) in French. I don’t speak the language so I tried an online French translator…this is what I got. Seriously.

Posted by ‘Spring’:
‘vous semblez merveilleux dans des culasses serrées, trop et vous devriez porter le themn plus souvent.’

Translation: "You seem marvelous in gripped cylinder heads, surplus and you should carry the them more often."

I’m not kidding. I know that’s not what you meant ‘Spring,’ so I tried another…just to see what I could find. At this point I know enough Spanish and Latin (and English) to put 2&2 together but I’m interested to see what the internet spits out…

The other translation: "You seem wonderful in squeezed cylinder heads, too and you should carry the them more often.'’

Either you’re making a bawdy engine joke, or you like me in tight pants. Either way, my tight pant-wearing days are long-gone…at least I hope they are. Enjoy the photos of me in them from yester-year…cause I’ve got ninjas hunting them down and destroying them.

As for the results show…well...you know how I feel about he group songs. I won’t continue to harp on it, and it actually is getting better as the numbers dwindle. I would like to point out a few things that suck out to me though.

-Could David Cook look any more cool, calm, and collected?

-When is Chikezie gonna bust out some Otis Redding? I can hear him doing it, and surprisingly the Country stuff he’s been doing would blend well with the ever emerging soul style he’s go going on.

-Was Remielle’s microphone turned off? Or was she doing a poorly-timed Ashley Simpson impersonation?

-Can Carly be any more solid? She could sing me the obituaries in the Cantonese Herald (I think News Corp owns that too) and I’d be cool with it.

-When Kristi sat down on the bench, she totally mistimed it and bumped (none to softly) Syesha. The fake smile Syesha threw Kristi’s way was priceless! As soon as Syesha turned away, she dropped the act, and I busted out laughing, as I imagined what was going through her head…not printable.

Amanda Overmeyer was totally not singing as she sat in the back row during the girls couch sing-along section….

Priceless moments that only come to life with a DVR.

The short mentor list is announced:

Dolly Parton- should be a fire cracker, and a fun time.

Mariah Carey- you wanna talk about showing ‘em how it’s done. Bow down to the diva.

Lord Andrew Lloyd- Great music, but song selection will be key here, some of the music is outdated and could come off as cheesy…and trust me…I know cheesy!

Neil Diamond- Whoever gets “We’re coming to America” is gonna be king/queen for a week. That song is super-sweet!

Should make for some interesting weeks ahead….

Wow, they really wanted to fill for time. Each contestant had to walk out and give reasons why they shouldn’t be kicked off the island.

Brooke- Awkard, but obviously top 10

Carly- Shockingly went into the bottom 3. Weak-sauce! Carly looked like she had been kicked in the teeth, and I think that America felt the same way. Unfortunately she had to sit on one of the stools of shame. I used to have to sit on those for TVGuide shows and I gotta tell you, they were uncomfortable as hell. My rump constantly fell asleep!

David A.- Not even gonna bother.

Michael- A nervous wreck, but not going anywhere

Ford Focus commercial…oh man. Ohhhhh man.

David C.- Smugly in the top 10.

Kristy Lee- Bottom 3 is her place to be these days (sigh)

Jason- Top 10, at least he’ll make money on the tour.

RM- Surprisingly in the top 10, lucky as far as I’m concerned, with some of her performances.

A touching Idol gives back segment….

Syesha- A quick trip to the couch after.

Amanda & Chikezie- C was praying hard and his prayers were answered.

The final decision…

Carly goes and sits back down (SHOCKING!!!) not at all…

Kristii suffers again at the hands of the producers and Ryan.
Amanda goes home, much to the chagrin of the Vote For The Worst people…she should be proud that she made it this far.

I almost laughed my rump right off when I saw the nasty look she gave Ricky Minor when some sound issues plagued the beginning and pretty much the rest of her performance. Not the best technical night…nor was it the best night to have a bad technical night. Simon Fuller (the head-honcho extraordinaire) was in the audience for the show…oops! It happens, even to a stellar crew like the one that works Idol.

Until next week!!!

The best part of the American Idol Show this year is you Justin! I love this blog and take great interest in your insights about this year's contestants. This is the first year I have no favorites and if someone made me choose I would have to say Chikezie because he has that bluegrass/R&B vibe going on. Your fans will NEVER forget those pants.....Season One is still my favorite and you are still my American Idol even though you came in second!

pat:

I agree, Justin is the best part of American Idol. He always was and always will be and he deserves to be recognized for his incredible talent.
Im going to pound my fists, stamp my feet and throw a "virtual"
tantrum because I am just so frustrated.
I want to see Justin PERFORM on the idol stage! I want to see him perform on Idol gives back too..

Ive been a good girl and tolerated having to watch Katherine McPhee and Blake Lewis and Kelly Pickler, perform on Idol, and each time I wince and think my goodness Justin is SO much more talented than all of them put together. I dont know who I have to sleep with, (only kidding) but I want to see Justin perform!
And since there was so much conversation about the Idols making money by having their songs on ITunes, I want to see Justins cd Stranger Things Have Happened, his christmas songs, His live in concert songs etc on Itunes too.
There needs to be more Justin where people can hear and appreciate him.

Okay back to Idol. I like David Cook. I like Carly. I like David A. I wouldnt miss any of the others if they left. Wouldnt it be funny though if Christy wound up being in the bottom three each week and wind up coming in third like Nikki. Poor Nikki. She deserved better.

Love the blogs, Love the insight. Love getting to see Justin on t.v and Justin you are looking especially gorgeous these days too!

PAULA:

I was also very dissappointed in the second week of Beatles song. Amanda and David C. should have sang one of the songs from John Lennons amazing "Rock and Roll" album, but I don't think he wrote most of them. They are old rock and roll standards.

I have to agree with first two comments. Justin is and always will be my Idol.

Joyce:

I enjoy your insights on the show. I guess Kristy will be sticking around until the country block and testosterone set decide to quit voting for her. Ramiele has obviously tapped into that voting block that propelled Jasmine Trias to # 3 during Season 3. I was surprised to see Carly in the bottom three but I also thought that might have been done intentionally to shock her fans into voting harder so that David Archuleta doesn't win Season 7 in a cake walk. As others have stated, you are the only Idol for me. Keep writing and keep entertaining!!

Gayle:

Hi Justin,

I really liked reading your blog. I didn't think Amanda would make it very far, but I'm surprised she didn't make the top 10. Sorry, but I'm not into your crush/GF Kristie C. I agree that David A. has a really nice voice, but he seems to struggle with everything but ballads and besides he's looks like he should be on the Disney Channel(not meant in a mean way). He is just to shy and not mature enough to keep me interested, plus I've been hearing rumors about his Dad being the stage father from Hell, can't imagine American Idol wanting to be involved with that. I prefer David Cook, Michael Johns, Seyesha and Carly. Based on the past three weeks I would like to see Ramiele or Kristie go next week.

I don't agree with everything you say, but I enjoy your opinions.

Diane:

Dear Justin,

Could you please stop saying the word "rump"?

Sydney:

Justin,

I agree with Diane, don't like the word "rump". I know it's used by people in different parts of the country and by some families depending on their heritage, but it really sounds tacky to me as well. How about using the good old fashioned word "butt", everyone knows what that means. Don't mean to pick on you, I love your blogs!

None comes to Mind:

Hi Justin,

You really are a funny guy! Did you know that the words that you used to describe Jason Castro's performance on Tuesday ('Jason de la culotte serrée') means that you think he wears tight women's underwear? ('culotte' means panties, it does not mean pants, except perhaps in a British English dictionary).

I thought that 'Spring' returning the compliment to you and your appreciating it was kind of funny. Thankfully you mention you don't understand French. You are not admitting to wearing tight women's underwear in the past, are you?

Love your blog. Please keep it coming!

jjsugar:

great blog justin, i hope i typed in the letters right i missed doing that last post.

happy easter and i'm looking forward to next weeks show. i think when the mentors start on idol, it may help bring some energy to the show and inspire the contestants a bit more. brooke white is still my favorite and david cook and david a...i love dolly parton and neil diamond, i think they were on the list of mentors.

Paul:

Justin,

Other than this post and a certain TV guide show, what are you up to? Season 1 will always be my favorite idol season, in no small part to you Justin. Hopefully we will hear news about a new CD soon..or maybe a TV show or movie!
