Ohh Jim Halpert. I love you for so many reasons and The Office season finale proves no exception. We begin with a classic prank Dwight to intercept all his calls to a Bluetooth while Jim pretends to be Dwight in front of him. Genius. Michael comes skipping in. Why the extra jump? Because it’s Human Resources Toby’s last day. It’s a day Michael will remember forever and a going away party is needed. Michael naturally wants a huge street parade or any other way to celebrate the devil exploding and evil being gone forever. Sounds about right to describe the mildest mannered person in the office. But since there’s not enough money for such an end of all evil Michael donates his birthday money in hopes of having at least an anti gravity machine.

Pam finds out she was accepted into a graphic design program in New York for 3 months and Jim assures her they’ll make it work. He also still plans to propose. Sweetest. Guy. Ever. To replace Toby, Amy Ryan guest stars as Holly. Michael instantly hates her for being in HR because, his job is to make the office fun, and hers is to make it lame. But when Holly makes a few jokes, Michael quickly comes to like her, or even love her. He makes her a mix tape of N3Ps – yes, N3Ps – and tells Jim he wants to give two messages. One, welcome to Scranton, and two, I love you. Jim unexpectedly gives Michael real advice to get to know Holly like he did with Pam. Inspired, Jim gives Phyllis money for fireworks so he can propose that night. Or he really, really is going to miss Toby.

Dwight is hazing Holly and convinced her that Kevin is special needs so she helps him at the vending machine. Kevin’s take? She totally wants him. Holly then builds her office chair and Michael comes over and his off key jokes actually hit and the two get along speaking in Yoda voice to each other. Has Michael actually met his match? Later, Michael is ecstatic for Toby’s exit interview since Toby is cruising for a bruising and Michael is the cruise director, Captain Bruising. What does that make Toby? But the fun is ruined when Holly and Pam step in forcing Michael to play by the rules and spoiling his going away present of a large rock with a note reading “Suck It.”

The meeting is interrupted when the office sees a YouTube video of their former temp and current corporate head Ryan being arrested for fraud. This then becomes reason to celebrate and the party starts. Phyllis got a moon bounce (or pseudo anti gravity machine) and Ferris wheel. Pam sees the fireworks being set up and anticipates Jim’s proposal. But first, Dwight continues to haze Holly with a raccoon in her car. Seeing this, Michael lectures the group for poor behavior to Holly who is quite possibly the best thing to happen since World War II.

Kevin out on an errand calls for Michael to come quick; there’s something he needs to see. Oh there’s something to see all right – a pregnant Jan! Michael is overjoyed, but not for long. She did conceive while dating him but from a sperm bank. Ouch. His whole life Michael’s known two things, that he loves sex and wants kids. What a shame they can’t go hand in hand.

With fireworks going, Jim readies his ring. But Andy beats him to it and asks Angela to marry him. She says okay and Andy celebrates that he’ll now be Mr. Andrew Bernard. Pam is disappointed it wasn’t Jim, and Dwight, still not over his relationship with Angela, may throw up. Talk about an incestuous office. And now the new HR lady of all people makes a play for Michael on her first day! She invites Michael for dessert but he turns it down and she goes with Kevin, who is now pursuing her. Michael enlists a burly security guard to escort Toby off the premises and calls Jan, who by the way is his former boss. A healthy work environment indeed. But that’s no bother now; Michael is going to be a kind of Daddy! Every man’s dream, I’m sure.

At the end of the night, Phyllis is proud of her work and goes inside. But not everyone is gone. There are still two people and they are working late all right; it’s Dwight and Angela totally doing it in the office! What hormones at Dunder Mifflin! Maybe Michael should rethink his position on HR if they allow this kind of inter-office behavior. Are Stanley and Oscar next? Until next season…
